Sea Classics Back Issues 2025
Sea Classics July 2025
ON THE COVER:
The USS Texas suffered significant damage during her time on display at the San Jacinto Memorial not only from the elements but also from gross mismanagement. Over the past couple decades, repair work has been underway to ensure the structural integrity of the historic vessel. In November 2023, it was announced that Galveston would be the new home for the ship. On 4 March 2025, it was revealed that Pier 15 would be the ship’s permanent docking berth but the battleship is still under repair and is only open on Sunday. Texas was the first and oldest of eight battleships that became permanent floating museums. Texas is also one of the oldest modern naval ships, having turned 115 years-old on 12 March 2025.
