BATTLE OF BELL ISLANDEL FARO VERSUS JOAQUIN
This small island off Newfoundland produced massive quantities of high-quality iron ore. THE STARK INCIDENT
It was something that never should have happened. Nearly 40 years ago, an Iraqi fighter attacked the US Navy frigate USS Stark. Instantly crippled by missile hits, the Stark was going to sink but the heroic crew literally saved the ship. Iraq claimed the attack was a mistake. But was it? Further research has shown that the attacker was not a fighter but a highly-modified business jet! As the years have gone by, the mystery has deepened / by Roger Baxter

UP PERISCOPE!
Over the decades, the US Navy has built up a massive collection of high-quality art. While much of this art is on display at various locations, a great many works remain in storage. Courtesy of the Naval History and Heritage Command, in this issue we present a number of works dedicated to the Silent Service / by C.E. Colby
